APS Staffing Process Podcast
As we continue the APS Budget Reduction Process that has included careful consideration of feedback from staff, parents and community members, the APS Board of Education and Leadership Team have developed a staffing process for this spring. Although we have tried to avoid staff cuts as much as possible, they are likely inevitable as 83 percent of the general fund budget is used for salaries and benefits.
The main rationale for this process is to reduce the impact on employees as much as possible while expediting decision-making, communications and employment outcomes. There are many resources for staff who have questions about this important and difficult process.
The staffing process has five reduction phases for licensed and classified employees as shown in the flowchart below:
